How Accurate is the QRNT Ring?Updated 3 days ago
The QRNT ring's sensors and algorithms have been tested in multiple lab validation studies, compared against medical-grade devices and other leading wearables. Here's what that means in practice for each metric.
Heart Rate
Measured continuously using the optical PPG sensor on the inner edge of the ring. Accuracy is highest during rest and steady-state activity. Like all wrist and finger-worn optical sensors, readings can be affected by sudden movement — which is why the ring's accelerometer filters motion artifacts from the signal in real time.
HRV (Heart Rate Variability)
HRV is captured during sleep, when your body is still and the signal is cleanest. QRNT reports HRV tailored to your personal baseline — not a fixed population average — which makes your score more meaningful to you specifically. Normal range for healthy adults is 19–75 ms, but your trend over time matters far more than any single number.
Skin Temperature
The QRNT Slim uses multiple temperature sensors for greater precision; the QRNT Original uses a single sensor. Both measure relative changes from your personal baseline — particularly useful for cycle tracking, illness detection, and overnight recovery monitoring. Temperature readings are most accurate during sleep when skin contact is consistent.
SpO2 (Blood Oxygen)
Measured using the same PPG sensor as heart rate. Accurate for wellness trend tracking during rest and sleep. Like all consumer SpO2 devices, readings can vary with skin tone, ring fit, and movement. Not intended for medical diagnosis.
Sleep Stages
Sleep staging uses a combination of accelerometer data, heart rate patterns, and HRV to classify time spent in light, deep, and REM sleep. Results align closely with polysomnography benchmarks in lab studies, though individual nights can vary. Trends across weeks are more reliable than any single night's breakdown.
Getting the most accurate data
- Wear the ring consistently — especially during sleep, when most baseline measurements are taken
- Make sure the ring fits snugly with sensors in contact with the palm side of your finger
- Give the ring 2–4 weeks to establish your personal baselines before drawing conclusions from individual readings
- Track trends over time rather than reacting to single data points
QRNT is a wellness device. Its readings are not intended to diagnose, treat, or monitor medical conditions. If you have health concerns, consult a qualified healthcare provider.
